摘要:One self-fulfilling explanation for gender pay differences in labor markets in that women propose lower desired salaries. By using an actual job seeking resume database and applying text mining skills, we are able to observe both the extent of gender differences in desired salaries and job related self-view. We also use the data to explore overeducation issue. The higher education expansion since 1999 in China has produced a huge supply of highly educated labor, which cannot be effectively utilized by the industry in a short time. Overeducation results as workers possess excess educational qualifications relative to those their jobs require, which has a far-reaching impact on workers' own career and also economic growth at large. We merge and match job resume database and job advertisement database, and quantitatively analyzes the degree and distribution of educational mismatch between the labor supplier and the labor demander from the aggregate, industrial and individual levels, and estimates pay penalty experienced by overeducated workers.
