Economics, many of the social sciences, management, engineering, etc., handle the complexity of large scale problems in a similar manner; they "divide-and-conquer." Namely, a large project is divided into manageable parts, solutions for the parts are discovered and then assembled. As shown in this talk, such a methodology is guaranteed to create a new form of complexity that frustrates finding success.
美国科学院院士,美国加州大学尔湾分校经济系和数学系双聘资深教授,数理行为科学研究所所长。 Donald Saari教授1967年获得普渡大学数学系博士学位,2002被普渡大学授予杰出校友奖。他被选为美国科学院院士、美国科学与艺术研究院院士、美国科学促进会院士、古根海姆学者。Donald Saari教授目前担任多家关于动态系统分析学、经济学、决策分析学等学术期刊的编委会委员,是国际知名刊物《US National Committee of Mathematics》的前任主席。曾获美国数学协会Allendoerfer奖、查文尼特奖、Lester R. Ford奖。迄今为止Donald Saari教授编写了关于公共社会选择、动态系统、进化博弈论和天体物理方面的十余本专著,发表180余篇论文,在学界享有很高的荣誉,1980年以来已受邀为世界各地的高校进行了500多场讲座。
